Q&A's

1. How does your program work? How many lessons will my child have before they can swim? Our program typically begins with a 5-pack of lessons, conducted Monday through Friday. This intensive approach allows us to better understand your child's strengths and weaknesses and helps them build trust with the instructor. We discuss what your child should practice over the weekend at the end of each week. Based on their comfort level and progress, we determine the number of lessons needed for the following week. The goal is gradually reducing the number of lessons as your child meets specific skills. While the exact number of lessons required for your child to swim independently varies, we ensure they learn all the swimming, floating, and water safety skills.
2. What is your policy on make-up days for missed lessons? Make-up days are approved for unsafe weather, a sick child, or a pool shutdown. However, make-ups for reasons such as tiredness, playdates, or last-minute cancellations will not be given. You'll need a 24-hour cancellation notice.
3. Are spots able to be held? Unfortunately, we cannot hold spots for children with extended absences, such as vacations. We will do our best to accommodate your child when you return; however, the same days and times won't be guaranteed.
4. What qualifications and experience do you have? I have been teaching swimming for the past eleven years and have taught hundreds of children during this time. Additionally, I have 20 years of experience as a full-time preschool teacher. I hold a Water Safety Instructor certificate, am CPR and First Aid AED trained, and have extensive experience working with children of all ages.
5. What age groups do you teach? We offer swimming lessons for individuals of all ages, from infants to adults. Each age group has a tailored program to meet their specific developmental needs.
6. How do you ensure the safety of your child during lessons? Safety is our top priority. Our instructors are certified in Water Safety Instruction, CPR, and First Aid. We maintain a low student-to-instructor ratio to ensure each child receives close supervision and personalized attention.
7. What should my child bring to the lessons? Your child should bring a swimsuit, towel, goggles, and a swim cap if needed. For younger children, we recommend getting a change of clothes and swim diapers if necessary.
8. Do you offer private or group lessons? We offer both private and group lessons. Private lessons provide one-on-one instruction tailored to your child's needs, while group lessons benefit social interaction and peer learning.
9. How do you track my child's progress? We track your child's progress through regular assessments and provide feedback at the end of each week. You will receive updates on the skills they have mastered and areas that need improvement.
10. Can parents observe the lessons? Yes, parents are welcome to observe the lessons. We believe parental involvement is crucial for a child's progress and confidence in the water.
11. What if my child has a fear of water? We have experience working with children who fear water. Our instructors use gentle techniques and positive reinforcement to help them overcome their fears and build confidence in the water.
12. Do you offer lessons during the winter? Yes, we offer lessons year-round. Our heated indoor pool ensures a comfortable learning environment regardless of the season.
13. How do you handle children with special needs? We are experienced in working with children with special needs and tailor our lessons to meet their requirements. Please inform us of your child's specific needs so we can provide the best possible instruction.
